Our days typically start in a flurry of lunches frantically being packed, outfits flying, eat your breakfast, quick- go brush your teeth, get your shoes on, get your shoes on, get your shoes on!!!! etc. Even though we allot enough time, I still find myself Drill Sargenting the kids, especially my youngest, out of the house. . This week in class we focused on the grammar of the heart. How we approach a situation subconsciously/ consciously and the grammar we attach to it. How this grammar can dramatically effect the outcome. We observed what poses made us cranky, especially when I threw every hippy pose I could at them. Our focus was changing the language on the mat, but of course, we were encouraged to practice this off the mat as well. . As I woke this morning, begrudgingly embarking on the Drill Sargent duties at hand, I decided to practice what I preach. I was careful with the words I chose, trying strategically to replace words of “Hurry, don’t make me repeat myself, and we’re going to be late” with calm, gentle, encouraging morning banter.
